It was back out on the bike and out to Ashton Court this morning. This time it was for a social long run, out along the towpath and back through Leigh Woods (before the Nightingale Nightmare set off). Absolutely gorgeous weather, with a mix of colours of leaves on the trees (and plenty on the ground as well). A little bit muddy, but nothing too bad.
After a cup of tea back at Ashton Court it was back on the bike to go home, which should have been uneventful but I decided to navigate around some pedestrians on the path by taking to the road at a service station entrance, rejoining the path again at the service station exit. Both I and the bike rejoined the path, but not together. This is why I wear a cycle helmet (I tend to fall off sideways in low-speed accients, this time with a roll). The gear cable had popped out of the shifter and one of the brake cables had retreated into the brake lever, so the rest of the ride was completed with only one gear and only one brake. Annoyingly both have resisted attempts to be returned to their original configurations, so I will need to take it to a pro who does 20 of these a day. I am only missing a couple of 20p piece sized bits of skin near my elbow and have a small bump on my forearm (I was wearing gloves and long sleeves), but am working on a bruise.
