It was back to the books again after the TMA last week and on to a new section, this time one on Ethics. It started with a look at good old Plato who looked at justice (not having words for morals or ethics apparently). A lot of Plato’s usual tricks of stating a number of premises which lead to perfectly valid conclusions, but very little given in the way of proof that the premises are sound. The larger issues of why people act morally/ethically are interesting, and it will be good to see how other philosophers address them, but Plato is a little too simplistic for me, leaving too many holes.
Because it creates a civilised society in which your genes can flourish. Darwin all the way
That is one of the potential sources for morality given, just not be Plato 🙂
