It was my 50th parkrun at Ashton Court today (my 56th total) and the first opportunity I had to wear my 50-club t-shirt. A big turnout as it was the third anniversary of the creation of Ashton Court parkrun and there were awards and cake promised afterwards. A steady run, but blustery up on the plateau where Chrissie Wellington gave me some encouragement as she blew past me, and I just kept it under 24 minutes though it was a bit of a sudden stop after igniting the afterburners to retake a position in the last 20m or so.
It was good to chat to some people afterwards in the courtyard, including Steve, whose girlfriend is rowing 2,400 miles for 2,400 women – sponsor a mile here: http://www.elsahammond.com/
I finished 83rd out of 311 parkrunners, was 12th lady and 6th in my age category. I will have to try and move up the points table next week.
“… igniting the afterburners…” Brilliant! 🙂

But what about the cake?
There was much cake. I went with tiffin and a chocolate cupcake.
There was also a little exhibit above the stables that you might like, Lynne .
