In a weird bit of synchronicity with my philosophy course looking at dualism, this week my psychology course was looking at evolutionary psychology. Something of a controversial area with regards to be able to inherit psychological traits it does appear that just as walking upright appears to have altered brain size, there is evidence of behaviours such as altruism and the theory of mind having an evolutionary basis. A question of how much is hardware and how much is software and what software is pre-loaded (such as the ability to learn language) to use the sometimes tired and oft-used computer analogy.
