It’s that time of year again

The crowd control barriers were in evidence at Reading station this morning and the first group of teenagers with tents were spotted outside Burger King yesterday evening, which can only mean one thing – my sister’s annual visit. Oh, and Reading Festival.

It  might be the last hurrah for school-age kids (who seem to make up the majority of the crowds, am I just getting old) as they are keen to get on site. The fact that the campsite doesn’t open until 18:00 tonight for those with early-bird tickets hasn’t deterred them from getting into Reading at commuter time.

It’ll be my last chance to get to the shops tonight without them being besieged by festival-goers, so I’d better make the most of it and stock up since the shelves will be severely depleted by next week (and they’ll probably only be stocking cider and lager).

Time to batten down the hatches.
